Abomination of Desolation

“Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.  And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.”  Daniel 9:24-27 (KJV)

“When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)” – Matthew 24:15 (KJV)

“But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:” – Mark 13:14 (KJV)

“And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto. For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.”  – Luke 21:20-22 (KJV)

What is “the abomination of desolation”?

When did it (or, will it) take place??

WHY did Matthew, Mark, and Luke all record Jesus’ warning of it— but John did not???

And, WHY did John not write about it in The Revelation, either????

Consider the chapter subtitles & paragraphs, in Matthew 24— in the original AV 1611…

The Authorized Version 1611 — Matthew 24 – Original Chapter Subtitles & Paragraphs —  *Verse 1 – “Christ foretelleth the destruction of the temple” (continuing the “house left desolate” context from chapter 23) —  *Verse 3 – “What, and how great calamities shall be before it” (notice: the translators included the context of vss. 3-28 as being before [i.e. AD 70] the Temple’s destruction!)—  *Verse 29 – “The signs of His coming to judgment” (vss. 29-35 would be the signs of His Return, etc.! These verses include the gathering with a great sound of a trumpet!) —  *Verse 36 – “And because that day and hour is unknown” (vss. 36-41 compare the days to that of Noah’s day—suddenly, and without exact determination of when it will begin) — *Verse 42 – “We ought to watch like good servants expecting every moment our master’s coming” (vss. 42-51 teach us all to watch and be ready, as faithful servants—God wants every generation to be as watchful as were those in times past)
